Children and Building Sites
In the last five years 6 children have been killed
whilst playing on construction sites and a further 524 have been
injured. What seems like harmless fun to many children can lead to
terrible accidents causing serious injury or worse.
That is why it's so important to communicate with young
children about the importance of health and safety issues surrounding
a building site.
Redrow has been visiting schools and presenting a health and safety
warning message to children for many years. Our experienced health and safety
and construction staff explain the dangers associated with playing
on a building site.
Children are also shown a video that demonstrates the
hazards, and are told the importance of wearing high visibility clothing
if entering a construction area.
The Buster Rules OK! health and safety pack can be used as a stand-alone
activity or to support presentations made by Redrow professionals.
Buster the Bear is an engaging character for children
who can help teachers to deliver an important message in a friendly
and fun way. He is always dressed in health and safety clothing
to reinforce the precautions necessary on a building site.
The Buster Rules OK! A4 activity pack is suitable for primary school children
aged between 5 and 11 years old. It includes a welcome letter, two
puzzle sheets, and an activity colouring poster.
