The Long Course 
Plan It…Build It! can be used as a 5 or 6 week Citizenship module, giving students the opportunity to consider the housing situation – and their own future homes.

Our suggestion is that during the first two sessions the PowerPoint presentations are shown as in the short course, but with more opportunity for discussion and further research.

During the third and fourth sessions divide your class into marketing, planning and construction teams and hand out the information sheets to your groups and ask them to complete the activities listed. Again, further research can be carried out on the Internet and from other reference sources.

The fifth session allows the students time to draft their final presentation, whilst during the sixth session the students will make their final presentation to the teacher and the other groups and answer questions on their outcomes.

Time should be allowed to discuss the presentations to establish how well their ideas would work in practice, can their ideas help solve the national housing shortage and what lessons have been learnt.
